Yahoo and Facebook is Advanced to Their Patent War?


Yahoo and Facebook are innegotiations to settle their nasty patent dispute, according to AllThingsD’s Kara Swisher.Yahoo’s suit and Facebook’s countersuit hung over both Facebook’s less-than-successful initial public offering as well as Yahoo’s perennial attempt at a comeback. Yahoo’s original suit, which essentially attributed much of Facebook’s success and nearly $4 billion in revenues last year to Yahoo patents in social networking, advertising, messaging, and more, reportedly was pushed by former CEO Scott Thompson. Thompson left in mid-May under a cloud after only four months at the helm when it was revealed that his resume was embellished. Now, with Yahoo executive Ross Levinsohn in charge, it seems Yahoo is eager to settle the suit and move on to more important things, like surviving. According to Swisher, who writes that the talks are being led on Facebook’s side by Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and VP of partnerships Dan Rose:
